Please remember that no matter what we do to help with the editorial process, this is your book project and you are ultimately responsible for the book’s content and may accept or reject any of the suggestions made by our editors and proofers; neither X-Presso Books nor its editorial team are responsible for any typographical errors or errors in punctuation, syntax, or content.
Copy Editing | $3 per page*
Guided by the Chicago Manual of Style (publishing’s
“Bible”) our editors will look for errors in basic
sentence structure, usage, and punctuation without making
any significant changes to your text. You will have an opportunity
to review these changes and decide which ones to accept and
which to reject, and enter the changes into the manuscript
yourself.
Content Editing •| Custom Quoted
Content editing is for those who think their work
needs much more than a basic copy edit. Our editors will look
for continuity issues, conflicting information, basic organization,
and other inconsistencies to make your book read as professionally
as you’d like it to. It is usually most convenient to
allow the editor to work directly in the word processing program
on a copy of your manuscript, using a track changes feature
so that you can accept or reject the edits. (Not recommended
for fiction or poetry.)
Manuscript Proofreading •| $2 per page*
Our proofreaders all come from a publishing background
and will do their best to weed out any misspellings or punctuation
errors. You will have an opportunity to review these changes
and decide which ones to accept and which to reject, and enter
the changes into the manuscript yourself.
Galley Proofreading •| $2.25 per page*
The same as manuscript proofreading, but executed
after the interior design is complete to help weed out any
mistakes introduced during the design and layout process.
You will have an opportunity to review these changes and decide
which ones to accept and which to reject, then our typesetter
will implement any changes.
*Based on manuscripts submitted on 8.5 x 11 paper set in 12 pt.
Times, double spaced, with 1-inch margins on all four sides
of the document. Galley Proofreading based on page count of
completed book layout, which typically contain more words-per-page
than manuscript pages.
